The focus of this course is to provide in-depth practical exploration of the clinical relationship and how it can deepen and enrich the therapeutic process. We will practice listening skills and working with feelings as well as examining personal issues related to transference, counter-transference, and the deepening of empathy. The learning outcomes will be to recognize personal qualities in oneself that might contribute to a more effective clinical relationship, as well as those that could be problematic. In addition, students will learn how to work with one's strengths and challenges to support the therapeutic process. We will be addressing how to identify specific ways of working in the clinical relationship that are useful to one's practice. There will be mostly dyad work to facilitate the process of deepening the clinical relationships in this class. Priority to ICP and ICPW student; MCP student Therapeutic Communication
