The CIIS Annual Fund

What is the Annual Fund?
The Annual Fund is the cornerstone of CIIS's giving program. It consists of the collective gifts to CIIS from alumni, trustees, faculty, staff, friends, foundations, businesses, and corporations. The Institute relies on these contributions to help cover its operating expenses and ensure its financial stability and continued academic excellence. Your investment in the Annual Fund will help us in our strategic goals to increase financial aid resources for students and to provide seed money for new programs. Our goal is to raise $500,000 through the Annual Fund each year.

How Is Your Donation Used?
Your investment in the Annual Fund provides unrestricted operating funds to support a variety of vital needs at CIIS, including:

• Scholarships: The Institute currently spends five percent of its operating budget ($500,000) for scholarships and gift aid. CIIS looks to a strong Annual Fund to increase this percentage of scholarship dollars each year, helping to attract and retain talented students who might otherwise not be able to attend CIIS.

• Research: The Annual Fund provides research support for both faculty and students to conduct scholarly research and present at conferences, furthering the scope of CIIS's powerful and unique educational perspectives.

• Laurance S. Rockefeller Library and the Computer Center: The Annual Fund provides support to expand the new book collection in the Library, to purchase the annual subscriptions to important research journals, and to equip and maintain computers for student research both in the Library and the Computer Center.

• Counseling Centers of CIIS: The Annual Fund provides support for the Institute's four community counseling centers in San Francisco. The Counseling Centers of CIIS offer leading-edge, mind-body-spirit psychotherapy at affordable rates, and serve as invaluable training centers for student interns in the CIIS School of Professional Psychology.

You May Want to Know...
When does the Annual Fund Campaign take place?
The Annual Fund begins July 1 and ends June 30 of the following year, with opportunities to give throughout the year.

How may I make my gift?
Gifts may be made in cash, check, stocks, or securities, or by VISA or MasterCard. Gifts may also be pledged for payment to CIIS (quarterly or monthly) over the course of the Annual Fund year.

Can I use my employer's matching gift program?
A corporate-sponsored matching gift program can double or even triple an employee's gift to CIIS. Ask for a matching gift form from your or your spouse's or partner's employer (usually available in the Human Resources office) and mail it with your CIIS contribution, or shortly thereafter.

How is my gift recognized?
Every donor will be recognized in the Honor Roll of Donors published in the Fall issue of the newsletter CIIS Today and on the CIIS website, www.ciis.edu. Donors of $1,000 or more are invited to special events at CIIS.
