CEU Information: The Heart of India: A cross-cultural exploration of individual, family and society.
Course Objectives: The myriad of changes occurring on the subcontinent are unparalleled and have a significant impact on traditional concepts of self and family. Through a variety of methods (visiting temples, dialogues with Indians of varying class and spiritual tradition, writing, reflection and participation in sacred chant sessions) we will examine certain philosophies of health and wellness and comparisons and contrasts to a western approach. Through experiential and academic inquiry, the Indian sense of self and other will be discussed as we consider assumptions about ourselves and others and learn strategies for integrating cross cultural perspectives into our clinical work.
