Tantric Practices for Integrating the Shadow

Robert Svoboda

Human personalities thrive within a wholesome environment, but today’s psycho-socio-cultural ecosystems are just as “polluted” as our planet. As we reject and disown "polluted" aspects of our personality, these unwanted traits become embedded within the unconscious, creating a "shadow self." Navigating one’s way to a healthy ecology of personality requires a harmonious integration of our "shadow selves" with the more conventionally accepted parts of our personas.

Tantra is the yogic science of personhood that came into prominence in India many centuries ago. It offers effective tools for self-transformation. In this workshop, we will explore Tantric approaches to self-actualization. Using breathing and visualization techniques, we will spur the expansion of our limited individualities into full-spectrum personality structures, allowing for greater personal and spiritual freedom.

Robert E. Svoboda is the first Westerner ever to graduate from a college of Ayurveda and receive licensure to practice Ayurveda in India. The author of numerous books, he lectures and consults around the world, and serves on the adjunct faculty for the Ayurvedic Institute in Albuquerque, Bastyr University in Seattle, and the Institute for Religion and Health in Houston.
