Sexual Experience and Sexual Counseling:
Asian and Western Perspectives
Harrison Voigt, PhD
This workshop meets State of California educational
requirements in Human Sexuality for licensure as a psychologist,
MFT, and LCSW.
This workshop examines the experience and expression of sexual
energies from Eastern and Western perspectives, and includes
a description and discussion of sexuality from the personal,
interpersonal, and transpersonal perspectives. Through a combination
of didactic and experiential learning modalities, the workshop
will examine sexual awareness, beliefs, physiological responses,
treatment of sexual problems and the evolving personal meaning
of sexual experience.
Guest speakers will contribute perspectives from gay, lesbian,
bisexual, and transgender/transsexual orientations. Contemporary
approaches to sexual counseling and sexual enrichment will
be reviewed and critiqued and illustrated with case material
from couples and individuals working on sexual issues. The
course will also introduce an innovative model for couples
sexual enhancement, derived from Tantrism.
