Calligraphy:
Brush Creativity and Spirituality
Kazuaki Tanahashi
Drawing a line with a brush is a wonderful way to work with
your body and mind. In this weekend workshop, participants
will follow the traditional way of learning calligraphy while
being aware of any anxiety, frustration, and self-criticism.
You will learn the basic skills and creative process of brushwork
by reproducing ideograms from ancient Chinese calligraphic
masterpieces, and will also have the opportunity to interpret
these works and improvise. While working, participants will
witness mindfulness, surprise, and joy, and contemplate how
healing and breakthroughs work in your body, mind, society,
and the environment. No previous experience in brushwork is
needed.
