| Mysticism
of Sound
and Music
Silvia Nakkach
Embark on a journey through the transformative power of music,
and experience firsthand ancient and contemporary sound tools
as a healing modality. Since ancient times, sound has been
used as a gateway to transcendence and to the exploration
of consciousness by shamans, yogis, mystics, and scientists.
It is widely believed that knowledge of sound is knowledge
of the universe—that sound expresses the relationship
between human and cosmic orders.
This course offers a comprehensive understanding of how we
exist as sound at the most fundamental level of our being,
and how sound, music, and intention can be used to assist
psycho-spiritual insight and transformation. The extensive
coursework is offered in weekly sessions to deepen the practice
and integration of the sacred sounds of mantras, the music
of the Sama Veda, the Sufi teachings of Hazrat Inayat Khan
on the mysticism of music, the Indian ragas, and Rudolf Steiner’s
studies on the etheric tone.
Participants will also learn a method for developing intuitive
playing and chanting skills, and receive instruction on a
variety of instruments that are easy to play, including Tibetan
and crystal bowls, dulcimers, harmoniums, and simple percussion.
