| Kabbalah:
The Practice
of Mystical Judaism
Rabbi Lavey
Yitzchak Derby
The Kabbalah is Judaism’s sacred, mystical spiritual
path for attaining peace and “devekut”—a
sense of union with God. Kabbalah teaches that our physical
reality is only one level of reality, that it is when we truly
understand the essence of God that we learn how to feel connected
to all of life and to know ourselves more deeply.
In this class, participants will receive an overview of the
basic tenets and spiritual practices of Kabbalah. You will
learn, for example, about the intricate system of the “sephirot,”
the transcendent structures that in Kabbalah are the foundation
of all reality. You will also study, in translation, passages
from Jewish mystical literature, which are believed to guide
one’s understanding of the true nature of God, of one’s
relationship to the Infinite, and of the mystical path of
awareness. The workshop will explore how, according to Kabbalah,
the unfolding of Divinity can become a model and road map
for personal growth and understanding, for healing from the
difficulties of life, and for pursuing a life of goodness.
Participants will also experience firsthand Jewish meditative
and contemplative techniques designed for spiritual growth
and connection to the higher realms.
