Experiential Anatomy

Susan Bauer

Become your own personal “lab” in this creative and humanistic anatomy workshop that uses movement, touch, drawing, partner work, and creative writing to explore the bones and underlying systems of support and expression. This embodied approach to anatomy is based on Body-Mind Centering™, Ideokinesis, and Bartenieff Fundamentals™, and is ideal for dancers, dance teachers, yoga teachers and practitioners, body workers, movement artists, and those interested in deepening their connection to their body/mind.

Susan Bauer, MA, is a dance/somatics educator and choreographer who has taught experiential anatomy at San Jose State University, the University of California at Los Angeles, Denison University, and the Moon Ban Dek School in Thailand. Her unique approach is based on extensive studies of Body-Mind Centering™, Ideokinesis, and Bartenieff Fundamentals™, as well as study with Andrea Olsen and Caryn McHose, authors of BodyStories, A Guide to Experiential Anatomy. Her own book, A Body-Mind Approach to Movement Education for Adolescents, documents her curriculum in experiential anatomy for teens.
