Michael Trainer is an artist and educator.
As a Fulbright Scholar in Sri Lanka, he
apprenticed in the ritual arts with a seventh-generation
healer. This formative experience revealed
to him the powerful potential for the arts
to build consciousness and heal communities.
Trainer now strives to apply that knowledge
through his life work. In The Space
Between, he invites viewers to bear
witness to the visual diary of his 16-month
journey around the world. With color portraits
and abstracts of the natural world, he presents
his inward reflections on the aesthetic
experience of South and Southeast Asia,
Indonesia, New Zealand, and the American
Wilderness. The Space Between invites a
sense of place and possibility through the
eyes of a liminal wanderer.
