| The
Fall 2005 issue of ReVision: A Journal
of Consciousness and Transformation,
published by Heldref Publications, is the
first installment of a special double issue
on revisioning higher education. Matthew
Bronson, Ph.D., associate professor
of Social and Cultural Anthropology and
director of academic assessment at CIIS,
is the editor of this issue. He states in
his article, Revisioning Higher Education
for the Twenty-first Century: “For
many, it has become clear that a collective
shift in consciousness and a new paradigm
for thought and action is essential if life
as we know and cherish it is to continue.”
His colleagues carry on this theme. Articles
include:
• An Emersonian Approach to Higher
Education by Robert McDermott, president
emeritus and professor of Philosophy and
Religion at CIIS
• An Approach to Integral Education:
A Case for Spirituality in Higher Education
by Joseph Subbiondo, president of CIIS
• The Complete Yoga: The Lineage
of Integral Education by Jim Ryan,
professor of Asian and Comparative Studies
at CIIS
• Toward a Model of Integral Education
by Judie Wexler, academic vice president
and dean of the faculty at CIIS
• The Practice of Embodied Emergence:
Integral Education in a Counseling Psychology
Program by Ian Grand, program director
and professor of Somatic Psychology at CIIS
• Teaching to Transform and the
Dark Side of “Being Professional”
by Karen Ann Watson-Gegeo, professor of
Language, Literacy, and Culture at the University
of California, Davis
ReVision is a peer-reviewed journal
that emphasizes the transformative and consciousness-raising
dimensions of current thought. The work
of so many CIIS scholars in the issue on
ReVisioning Higher Education for the
Twenty-first Century is a testament
to the rising profile of the Institute and
our history and leadership in integral education.
