Effects of War: Altered Lives, Altered
Books
is a group art exhibit that showcases the work of members of the Pacific Center for Book Arts (PCBA), an organization that was founded in 1980 by a group of San Francisco Bay Area book artists and educators, to support the new directions of their various disciplines. The exhibit offers a unique examination of how atrocities of war affect individuals and future generations. War inevitably alters books, making them into forbidden influences, reflections of loyalty and treason, hostages and propaganda, or precious lost possessions. How can artists truly address such omnipresent effects of war through altered books?

The works in this show will: Put form, shape, and color to words silenced by war; reflect patriotism and protest; and establish hope to end war and rebuild lives and landscapes.
