CIIS is pleased to announce that the J.C.
Kellogg Family Foundation has generously
pledged to match all gifts on a dollar-to-dollar
basis to three of the Institute's counseling
centers that serve as training facilities
for master's degree students. The challenge
grant is for up to $50,000 and will run
from March 1, 2004 through March 1, 2005.
Conveniently located in San Francisco neighborhoods,
the three counseling
centers that serve master's degree
counseling psychology students are: two
Integral Counseling Centers (2140
Pierce Street and 1782 Church Street) and
the Center for Somatic Psychotherapy
(310 Third Avenue).
The centers serve a critical function to
the students of CIIS, providing graduate
students and postgraduate interns with much-needed
practicum opportunities. The centers also
play an important role in the wider San
Francisco Bay Area community. Since 1968,
CIIS's counseling centers have offered leading
edge, mind-body-spirit psychotherapy to
individuals, couples, and families. Each
year, thousands of clients visit the clinics
for safe, supportive, and low-cost psychotherapy
(the average payment is $30) offered in
a variety of languages. Staff therapistsgraduate
degree students in CIIS's School of Professional
Psychologyare well trained in a variety
of therapeutic modalities, such as somatic,
transpersonal, psychodynamic, and Gestalt,
as well as conventional modes of psychotherapy.
