Kathy Beal is an artist,
Reiki master, and interfaith minister. She
has utilized many artistic mediums over
the past 15 years to explore the connection
between spirituality and creativity. In
Compassion: Auras and Altars, Beal
uses multiple layers of photographic images
to create mystical environments for Quan
Yin, the Buddhist “Goddess of Compassion.”
Utilizing the latest digital technologies,
her work blends the old with the new, shedding
contemporary light on this ancient icon.
Beal weaves together photographs of Quan
Yin, natural altars, and the elements with
diffuse color and forms to create environments
for the goddess. This exhibit emulates the
ancient thangkas, Tibetan sacred paintings,
enabling viewers to absorb the possibilities
of compassion.
