Asian and Comparative Studies Faculty Read the Lotus Sutra
CIIS’s Asian and Comparative Studies faculty held a three-day study group of the Lotus Sutra with students. Together they examined Sanskrit, Tibetan, and Chinese versions of the sutras, referencing several translations. This is the fourth year that faculty in the Asian and Comparative Studies department have held extracurricular seminars that focus on different Buddhist texts.

CIIS Alumna Shakti Butler Premieres New Film Making Whiteness Visible
Making Whiteness Visible, a new film by CIIS alumna Shakti Butler held its world premiere on October 7 in Oakland, California. The film shows the processes by which white activists are coming into consciousness and working intentionally with other white people, as well as people of color, to build a more equitable society.

CIIS Faculty Featured in Special Issue of ReVision
The Fall 2005 issue of ReVision: A Journal of Consciousness and Transformation carries the theme “Revisioning Higher Education.” Edited by CIIS anthropology professor Matthew Bronson, this quarterly journal from Heldref Publications includes six articles by CIIS scholars on topics around integral education.
