| The
Joy of
Devotional Chanting:
A Daylong Singing Intensive
Silvia Nakkach
Through a precise repertoire of sacred sounds, deity invocations,
prayerful chants, and divine utterances, workshop participants
will experience how sound supports the process of liberating
energy, healing emotions, and assisting the connection with
the spirit world. We will open our singing voices through
uninterrupted chanting with periods of silence.
In this day of continuous devotional singing, participants
will share world chants from the traditions of contemplative
singing: Shabda and Bhakti Yogas, Tibetan and Sufi music,
as well as more expansive forms of indigenous chants, ritual
songs, and incantations from India, Africa, Brazil, and the
Amazon. Instruction about the correct use of breath and the
voice will be given at the beginning of the workshop. For
more information, visit www.voxmundiproject.com.
The sessions of chanting will be recorded during the
workshop, and participants will receive a CD with the chants
that they learned.
