THE VEDAS IN
THE VISUAL ARTS

Madeline de Joly

Join pioneering contemporary artist Madeline de Joly as she takes you on a journey through the Vedas and the Asian Art Museum’s extensive collection to observe firsthand how the eternal qualities found in the Vedas are expressed within magnificent examples of aesthetic resolution. The four Vedas and their supporting texts are associated with Hindu philosophy, and they sequentially unfold the transcendent knowledge that exists in every grain of creation. Much of traditional and contemporary art, therefore, articulates the same eternal qualities as revealed in the Vedas. During the workshop, participants will select a work of art in the museum and explore it in light of Vedic wisdom.

Madeline de Joly, BFA, exhibits her work internationally in galleries, museums, and educational institutions, and is represented extensively in numerous public and private collections. She is involved in ongoing research and teaching of art and Vedic science in India, Indonesia, Europe, and the United States. In addition to being an artist, Madeline is a published author, curator, instructor, lecturer, and consciousness-based educator.
