MEDICINE THEORY:
WORKING WITH
THE FIVE ELEMENTS
Barbara Wilt
The Five Element Theory postulates that everything in the
universe can be categorized by five elements: Fire, Earth,
Metal, Water, and Wood. In this workshop participants will
learn the literal and figurative qualities of each element,
their relationship to the natural world and the seasons, and
how these elements influence life cycles.
By journeying with the drum, participants will examine each
element and develop a personal understanding of its intrinsic
energy, as well as come to understand their individual constitutional
types. Working with practical tools, such as sleep patterns
and nutritional choices, participants will learn how to balance
and harmonize the energies of the five elements in all aspects
of their lives.
