| AYURVEDA:
THE SCIENCE OF LIFE
Vaidya Priyanka
Ayurveda is a Sanskrit word, derived from two roots: ayu,
which means life, and veda, meaning knowledge. Ayurveda, which
encompasses the body, mind, and spirit, is often referred
to as the "science of life" and traces its roots
in ancient Vedic literature.
In this course participants will learn the basic principles
of Ayurveda and how to integrate the various applications
of this ancient science— medicated oil applications,
aromatherapy, color therapy, yoga, nutrition, exercise, and
meditation—into their daily lifestyles. Students will
gain an understanding of the nature of various foods and their
importance in health, and will learn to utilize Ayurvedic
techniques of internal cleansing, detoxification, and rejuvenation
for the restoration of health. Students will also learn how
the three constitutions (doshas) can give valuable insight
into their life purpose, career, thought processes, and spiritual
path.
This course and its contents are not intended for use in
the diagnosis, treatment, prevention or cure of any disease.
