BODY-MIND CENTERING®:
A SOMATIC APPROACH
TO MOVEMENT AND HEALTH

Sonja Riket

"If you want to know which way the wind is blowing, look at the sand. If you want to see the mind, look to the body. Change the quality of your movement and you change your mind."
—Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen
Founder of Body-Mind Centering®

Soma refers to the living body experienced from within. This experiential course offers you the tools you need to deepen your relationship to your somayour most intimate home, your embodied sense of self. Through movement explorations based on human developmental patterns, guided attention, hands-on exercises, and discussions, you will be able to access the innate wisdom and vitality of your body-mind-spirit and awaken possibilities for positive change in the way you move, feel, and think. This workshop is highly recommended for anyone interested in movement, dance, or greater body awareness.

Sonja Riket is a Registered Somatic Movement Therapist®, Guild-Certified Feldenkrais® Practitioner, Certified Teacher in Body-Mind Centering®, Aquatic Therapist, and dance educator. In 2003, out of a desire to increase the accessibility of somaticeducation, she started the Free Feldenkrais® Clinic in San Francisco's Women's Building, as well as a Somatic Tango Lab. Sonja's 40-year worldwide modern dance career and 18 years of study and practice in the somatic field, put her in a unique position to understand and communicate the power of the body-mind-spirit in movement. In her private practice and group classes, Sonja's purpose is to help people walk the path of awareness and compassion, and rediscover their capacity for healing and connection.
