THE
HEALING POWER
OF GRIEF
Sobonfu Somé
The hurt and pain sustained by our souls for not being allowed
to feel and to express grief is directly linked to the general
sense of spiritual drought, emotional confusion, and many
illnesses we experience in our lives. There can be so much
grief that we grow numb from the unfelt and unexpressed emotions
that we carry in our bodies. To begin to regain a serious
and lasting sense of peace, happiness, and connectedness with
ourselves and with spirit, we need to find a proper place
to release our grief of the losses we have endured in this
lifetime. Grieving is a powerful healing tool that cleanses
the soul.
This is a transformational and soul-invigorating workshop
designed to break through our cultural barriers of grief.
In the traditional world of the Dagara of Burkina Faso (West
Africa), the ritual of grief, conducted almost daily in different
parts of the tribe, is the chosen way of releasing the tension
caused by loss and restoring continuity in their relationships.
We will enter into the ritual space of grief following the
traditional model of the Dagara. It is our hope that it brings
a deep sense of release, peace, and connectedness in your
life.
