RHYTHMICAL ALCHEMY
PLAYSHOP

Arthur Hull

Join the Rhythmical Alchemy Playshop as we explore rhythm in all aspects of our lives. This family-friendly explorational workshop is open to people of all ages and musical abilities who have a desire to experience their musical spirit in a playful and safe environment. Using contact improvisation, vocals, rhythmical games, hand drumming, and drum circle consciousness, the Rhythmic Alchemy Playshop creates musical fun in a nurturing place.

Specifically, workshop participants will discover, re-awaken, and explore their rhythmic relationship with the universe—a relationship each of us had as a child—and learn how to carry it with them the rest of their lives. The class will also experience group awareness through movement, games, vocals, and percussion. As a group, the class will also create its own music improvisation as an expression of its developing rhythmic community. Go to www.drumcircle.com for more information.

You are encouraged to bring your favorite hand drums, percussion toys, and special sounds (gongs, chimes etc.). Percussion toys will be available for your use.

Arthur Hull is a talented rhythmist, performer, and pioneer in the field of rhythmical empowerment. With more than 30 years of experience in this area, he is recognized as the father of the modern-day community drum circle movement. Since 1980, Arthur has used the Village Music Circles metaphor to build team spirit and promote unity in corporations, schools, and communities worldwide, inspiring populations as diverse as corporate executives to children at risk. He has facilitated training seminars at numerous organizations, including Omega, Naropa University, Esalen, McDonald's, Blue Cross, and Silicon Graphics.
