The True Story of Gitta Mallasz
Talking With Angels is the extraordinary true story of friendship and loyalty among four young Hungarians who found transcendence in the face of tragedy. Woven into their account of life under Nazi occupation are the psychologically provocative conversations they had with numinous forces that appeared to them as angels. Now, through this tour de force performance, Shelley Mitchell brings the dialogues to life—and it’s as if the angels are speaking to you.

CIIS faculty lead post-performance discussions on Fridays and Sundays.

“Angels are speaking–loud and clear. This riveting piece speaks of life, death, and faith through a talented actor who deftly brings alive a remarkable figure.”
SFGate

“…relevant, soul-stirring, and thought-provoking.”
Jean Shinoda Bolen, M.D.

“a rare event... superb acting. This story will resonate strongly for audiences seeking something ‘other.’”
PACIFIC SUN
“Shelley Mitchell's portrayal of all these characters and angels, three-dimensional and whole, amazed me!” Eamonn Walker, Actor
“What an experience! The story of human potential, human faith, and human interconnectedness...[Shelley Mitchell] was born to play this part.”
George Zimmer, CEO of Men’s Wearhouse

CIIS's production of Talking with Angels was supported by grants from:

The Zimmer Family Foundation

The Zimmer Family Foundation was established in 1992 by George, Bob and Jim Zimmer as a means of contributing a portion of the financial rewards gained from the success of Men's Wearhouse to the betterment of society. The Foundation has accomplished this goal in two ways: (1) through post-secondary scholarships awarded to children of current and former Men's Wearhouse employees as well as economically disadvantaged or racially diverse students not associated with the company; and (2) donations to 501(c)3 non-profit organizations that were selected by the Foundation because of the positive impact they have on society.

Employees of the Men's Wearhouse take a great sense of pride in knowing that their efforts have indirectly contributed to the Foundation's ability to give back to all who benefit from its scholarships and charitable contributions.

The Koret Foundation

Since its inception in 1979, the Koret Foundation has awarded more than $280 million in grants focused on a range of areas including education reform and youth development, community and cultural development, and policy analysis that responds to socioeconomic challenges. In Israel, the foundation's funding has primarily focused on economic expansion and higher education. In addition, Koret has launched a series of initiatives that are revitalizing and strengthening the Bay Area's educational, policymaking, and cultural institutions, as well as the economy in Israel.

Over its first quarter-century, Koret's funding philosophy has evolved from traditional grantmaking to innovative, entrepreneurial approaches to fundamental contemporary issues.Underlying the philosophy of the Koret Foundation has been the vision of founder Joseph Koret, whose unyielding commitment to democracy's freedoms enabled him to achieve the American dream.
