Kitty Margolis and
Alfonso Montuori, Ph.D.
In this highly experiential workshop, participants explore
the nature of creativity, improvisation, and jazz, and learn
how to apply these principles to their everyday lives. Through
a combination of stories, musical examples, and exercises,
you are invited to examine your own understanding of and capacity
for creativity and improvisation.
Participants identify and replace beliefs that limit their
creative potential and learn how to expand on their inherent
creative and improvisational skills. Ultimately, they learn
how to approach many situations in life through a creativeand
improvisationallens.

Kitty Margolis is a critically acclaimed
jazz singer, renowned for her original artistry
and improvisational abilities. She has performed
on four continents and her CDs have garnered rave
reviews and Top Ten radio play all over the country.
A faculty member of the Jazzschool in Berkeley,
she is also a noted educator, keeping the jazz
tradition alive through master classes in the
Bay Area and around the globe.
Alfonso Montuori, Ph.D., is a faculty
member at CIIS and an international consultant
focusing on creativity, innovation, and executive
development. He is the author of numerous books
and articles on creativity and improvisation,
an interest that stems from his days as the leader
and saxophonist for a London world-beat band in
the 1980s. Alfonso is still actively involved
in music, performing and producing award-winning
recordings with his wife, Kitty Margolis.
