Neil Freese is a designer, artist, problem solver, coffee obsessive, world traveler and prolific doer of creative things.
Neil serves as assistant director for web and digital media for California Institute of Integral Studies, where he oversees the design and development of the University's website, the strategic direction of digital marketing campaigns, and the creation of dynamic multimedia content. At CIIS, Neil is also an assistant professor in the Master of Fine Arts Department.
As co-founder of Hup, Neil is calling on his extensive experience as a creative collaborator to help build a sharing platform that emphasizes the collaborative spirit at the heart of today's idea economy.
Neil exhibits artwork throughout the San Francisco Bay Area in solo shows and as a member of the Champagne and Nettles art collective. He recently ended a three-year run as co-curator of Classic Cars West Gallery, a member gallery of the world-famous Oakland Art Murmur.
With a master's degree in journalism, Neil has worked as a newspaper reporter and a copy editor, and writing remains a passion that he exercises through his travel blog. Neil loves baseball, pickles, backpacks, geography, topographic maps, Japanese stationary stores, orange cats, and tiny coffee cups.
Neil lives in Berkeley, Calif., with his wife, Emily, and their daughter, Marlow.
