Erika Chong Shuch is a performance maker, choreographer and director whose original performance works have been supported and commissioned by Intersection for the Arts, Berkeley Rep's Groundfloor, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, Mullae Art Space/Korea, deYoung Museum, Dancers' Group, Daejeon Metropolitan Company (Korea), Chang Mu Company (Korea) Gerbode Foundation's Choreographer's Award, Goldie Award, Liz Lerman's Dance Exchange/ Corcoran Gallery/DC, Falstaff Award, Helen Hayes Award (nominee) for The Conference of the Birds at the Folger/DC. Erika was recently Associate Director for The Gift of Nothing at the Kennedy Center. Erika is resident movement director at Cal Shakes, where she also performed Ariel in Jonathan Moscone's Tempest and Titania in Shana Cooper's Midsummer. Directing credits include Eurydice and God's Ear at Shotgun and Lily's Revenge (by Taylor Mac) at the Magic. Upcoming projects co-creating Iron Shoes for Kitka Women's Vocal Ensemble, and the YBCA Commission, For You, a new series of performance works for audiences of 12. Erika was co-founder and co-director of the Experimental Performance Institute at New College, a BA and MFA program in queer and activist performance from 2002-2007. She has been a lecturer and guest artist at UC Berkeley, adjunct faculty at ACT's MFA and CCA, and a guest artist at numerous universities including Naropa University (Colorado), San Diego State, and University of San Francisco.
