Lucid dreaming-awareness in dreams-is a powerful practice of awakening to the great dimensions of our creative mind. The practice of lucid dreaming challenges our perception and habitual patterns and can lead to the practice of lucid waking. In this program, Bogzaran will focus on historical, scientific, and phenomenological research on lucid dreaming as well as discussion about the current dialogue about this subject. She will explore the cross-cultural view on lucid dreaming and address the topic in the context of spiritual experiences and development, creative inspirations, problem solving, and how the practice is used as an awareness vehicle for preparation for dying. Through innovative methods developed by Bogzaran, participants will learn awareness methods in waking and dreaming and learn practical and creative tools for viewing their dreams.

Fariba Bogzaran, PhD, is a faculty member and the founder of the Dream Studies Program at John F. Kennedy University. One of the pioneers in the field of dream studies, she has trained students and professionals in innovative methods of dream awareness internationally since 1984. She worked with the Lucidity Project team at Stanford Sleep Laboratory in the 80s, and has been teaching the science and art of lucid dreaming for more than twenty-five years. She is the cofounder and creative director of the Lucid Art Foundation. Among her publications are: Extraordinary Dreams (co-author, SUNY Press, 2002), Five Keys to the Secret World of Remedios Varo (coauthor, Artes de México, 2008), and Integral Dreaming (coauthor, SUNY Press 2012). Her approach to lucid dreams is informed by her trainings in East-West psychology, art, and contemplative practices.
