Alumni Notes: Social and Cultural Anthropology

BethAnn Albro-Fisher (MA, SCA, '93) worked for the Center for Contemplative Mind in Society, Northampton, MA. Now, she is consulting to non-profits and is most excited about her work with Daphne Lowell and Alton Wasson who teach workshops in Contemplative Dance.

Michael Grofe, M.A., 1998, is an associate instructor at the University of California, Davis, and is completing his doctoral degree in the Native American Studies Department where his research focuses on Mayan hieroglyphic writing, archaeoastronomy, mythology and chocolate.


David King, M.A., 1995, worked for several years in UCSF’s Medical Anthropology department on a gerontological study and is currently working for a small social research company where he leads a project asking households across America what they think of Gay Marriage.


M. Ligaya Hattari, Ph.D., 2002, is a monitoring and image associate at the California Indian Manpower Consortium, Inc. (CIMC), in Sacramento, California, where she is involved with testing and developing new systems for the California Indian Manpower Consortium Youth Opportunity Grant, which includes 23 tribes in California and Western Nevada.


Sara McClelland, M.A., 1998, is pursuing her Ph.D. in Social Psychology at the Graduate Center, City University of New York. Her research focuses on empirical assessment of sexual attitudes, behaviors, and satisfaction.


Eric Murphy, M.A., 1997, is a marketing research professional. He conducts research for a variety of global clients in a range of business sectors, including technology, financial services and consumer goods.


Tania Soibelman (MA, '91) lives in Ireland with her husband and three sons.
She is currently working as a journalist and yoga teacher, also teaching courses
