Living in the Mists:
Celtic & Pre-Celtic History as Healing Ritual-Theater

by CatieBranwyn Fuld

Standing Stone with spiralsMuch of women's history is hidden behind the mists of time. With the expressed aim of creating a living tradition of spirituality and theater out of the mists of Celtic and pre-Celtic history, this work combines research, ritual theater, and personal process. CatieBranwyn researches Celtic mythologies and the archeology of the British Isles, creates a play out of her research, and documents her struggles and triumphs to blend the two into a seamless whole. Bringing the research and effort involved to life, the play's protagonist journeys through the mists of neolithic Britain's Goddess- and Woman-honoring traditions, through the increasingly patriarchal cultures of the Celtic and Christian periods, and into late 20th century America with its beginnings of egalitarian government and worship.
