Will I have time to work while attending the
program?
Yes. Most of Drama Therapy students are working
part time while attending the program. Classes
are usually scheduled two days during the week,
typically Tuesdays and Wednesdays for first year
students. Once students begin their internships,
scheduling becomes a little trickier, although
efforts are still made to limit classes to two
or three days.
Im not sure if I have enough theater
or psychology experience. Should I still apply?
Students are still encouraged to apply even they
may be lacking in one area. The admissions committee
looks at the entire application, and if they determine
that a student is a strong candidate but would
benefit from additional experience/coursework,
he or she may be asked to do so during the summer
prior to fall enrollment.
Can I start the program in the spring or summer?
No. The program is designed for fall entry only.
How long does it take to complete the program?
Most students take 2 to 3 years to complete the
program. The program can be completed in two years
(which includes full time enrollment year round)
but this rarely happens. Most students find that
once they begin their internships, they benefit
from slowing down a little bit.
Where are drama therapists working?
Drama therapists work in a number of different
settings including, but not limited to, hospitals,
residential treatment programs, in school based
programs, in geriatric settings, jails, private
practice, and in some corporate settings. Drama
Therapy students typically find work fairly quickly
due to their strong clinical training and extensive
experience working with groups.
