Integral Counseling M.A. Program

Alumni at Work

The Integral Counseling Psychology program attracts creative, self-directed, mature students from all around the world who have shown a strong interest in the integration of spirituality and therapy. Most Integral Counseling students have personal interests in spiritual growth, and many also have a strong background in psychology (though a psychology degree is not required). Each student comes to the Integral Counseling Psychology program with a unique set of experiences and interests that he or she uses to integrate and transform the transpersonal paradigm.

With their strong backgrounds in group work and leadership, graduates typically work in a variety of environments, from clinical to the creative arts to corporate settings. Among alumni are:

Gloria Simoneaux, M.A., 1999, is the founder of DrawBridge: An Arts Program for Homeless Children, which serves more than 1,600 children in five California counties. DrawBridge frequently exhibits the children's art, and has created The School Project, which educates teachers and school children about homeless families.

David Weinstein, M.A., 1991, is a psychotherapist and co-clinical director of the HAART Clinic in San Leandro, California, where he works with patients who are opiate-dependent. He leads the Oakland Zendo of the California Diamond Sangha, a community deeply committed to the integration of traditional Zen teachings with Western culture.

Robert O'Brien, M.A., 1990, is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and the clinical director of the Christian Counseling Center in San Francisco. In his private practice he works with adults suffering from a variety of addiction and relationship problems. Bob speaks on sex addiction and intimacy issues for San Francisco's First Offenders Prostitution Program for men.
