Application to the Expressive Arts Therapy
program requires the following:
• An Expressive Arts statement (two-pages, typed, double-spaced) on the applicant's background in the arts (personal and/or formal), discussing any form of creative expression that has been important for the applicant.
• Two letters of recommendation: Letters of recommendation will be accepted from academic advisors, professors, professional supervisors, or someone able to attest to your ability to undertake the work required for your program. (Standard business letter format preferred.)
• An academic writing sample: A writing sample of preferably eight-to-ten pages (typed, double-spaced) that demonstrates the applicant’s ability to think critically and reflectively. A sample that uses outside sources must include proper citations. Applicants may submit copies of previous work, such as a term paper or the first chapter of a thesis.
• An autobiographical statement of six-to-eight pages (typed, double-spaced) that discusses the following points:
(1) How the applicant's personality was shaped during childhood by family, significant relationships, spiritual experiences, and life events.
(2) How the applicant worked with himself/herself to resolve early life issues and moved toward personal wholeness.
If you are selected for an interview, you will be asked to attend a group interview process with other Expressive Arts Program applicants, which will be facilitated by members of the EXA Admissions Committee. |
