COURSE OF STUDY
The curriculum for the Certificate in Community Mental Health requires 18 semester hours of work and can be completed over a two-year period of time (9 units will be offered each semester). Students would need to enroll in the certificate program in order to be given priority for enrollment in the courses. The curriculum will expand upon traditional psychology education, promoting a holistic view of the individual in the context of their family, community, and culture, and cultivating understanding of and respect for all clients’ values, beliefs, and expectations. The program is designed to provide students with a solid background in psychological theory and methods as a foundation for intensive clinical training in systemic approaches to human problems.
