There are three primary types of financial assistance available to students at CIIS:
Grants and Scholarships
Pell Grant
The Pell Grant program awards money from the federal
government to eligible students. Unlike a loan,
this grant does not have to be repaid. Award amounts
depend upon program funding for that academic
year.
FSEOG (Federal Supplemental Educational
Opportunity Grant)
Awarded to undergraduate students with demonstrated
need. The grant does not have to be repaid. Priority
goes first to Pell Grant recipients with the greatest
need.
Bachelor of Arts Completion Program
Scholarship
Awarded to eligible students in the Bachelor of
Arts Completion program. Awards are made for incoming
fall and spring semester students.
Asia Cummings Endowed Scholarship
Scholarship established by Pamela and David Smith
(and funded through their family foundation),
in memory of their daughter who was admitted to
the Bachelor of Arts Completion program before
her death in 2004. This scholarship is for undergraduate
students only. There is no specific application;
awards are made based on financial need and the
recommendation of the BAC faculty.
Veterans Administration Educational
Benefits
CIIS's programs are approved for veterans. Contact
the Registrar's Office for more information: 415.575.6125.
Loans
Federal Subsidized Stafford Loan
Awarded to students with demonstrated need. The
federal government pays the accrued interest while
the student is in school or during the grace and
deferment periods.
Federal Unsubsidized Stafford Loan
Awarded to students who do not qualify for the
federal subsidized loan or for independent students
who need to borrow in excess of the subsidized
limits. The student is responsible for all interest
that accrues on the loan.
Alternative Loan Programs
There are several alternative loan programs available
to students at CIIS who need to borrow more than
the annual federal loan limits. Typically these
programs have higher interest rates and fees.
Student Employment
Student employment is available for both federally eligible and international students. Contingent on program funds, it is limited to students with demonstrated need. For More Information about Financial Aid Phone: 415.575.6122
