Transformation of Psyche: The Psychology of Patanjali's Yoga Sutras

To explore the future of psychology we have only to reach into our ancient past in Yoga.
Patanjali's Yoga Sutras, which are said to be over 5,000 years old are a great treatise on Yoga and one of the deepest forms of psychology in the world of today. The Yoga Sutras stress the importance of the latent unseen depths of the human psyche through the subconscious mind and it's cyclic reinforcement of cause and effect. Yoga practices help to accelerate and bring the latent impressions - samskaras and vasanas - up to the surface of the conscious mind in a shorter time span then they would normally appear. The experiential outgrowth of these practices help the practitioner to access and transform the psyche and in turn, become a living bridge between Eastern and Western thought. The Yoga Sutras transcend past and future and are a timeless reminder that we are already one with the eternal source of creation and that we are all the architects of our own destiny.
