The Way of the Shaman®: The Basic Workshop with Susan Mokelke

Developed by Michael Harner after decades of research and experimentation, core shamanism consists of the universal, near-universal, and common features of shamanism, together with journeys to other worlds, that shamans use to enter a non-ordinary reality for problem solving, well-being, and healing. Susan Mokelke will lead the participants in a series of experiential exercises to learn the fundamental methods for successful shamanic journeying-using classic shamanic drumming to access the shamanic state of consciousness-to receive answers to important life questions and to do healing work. This workshop is a prerequisite for all advanced workshops and training courses given by faculty members of the Foundation for Shamanic Studies. www.shamanism.org.

Susan Mokelke, JD, is the president of the Foundation for Shamanic Studies. She has co-taught and trained extensively with Michael Harner and leads the FSS faculty. She is an experienced teacher of the FSS introductory and advanced weekend workshops, as well as the FSS Pacific Northwest summertime Three-Year Program of Advanced Initiations in Shamanism and Shamanic Healing. Her articles on shamanism include: "Ethical Considerations in Shamanic Healing," "Effective Core Shamanic Drumming Circles," and "Core Shamanism and Daily Life." She developed the new FSS workshop Shamanism Practicum: Guidelines for a Healthy Shamanic Practice, and she edits the FSS annual journal Shamanism, as well as maintaining an active shamanic healing practice. "Susan Mokelke, who co-leads the Foundation for Shamanic Studies with me, has superb credentials as an outstanding shamanic healer and teacher. She is an inspiring, compassionate, and knowledgeable workshop leader. Anyone who studies with her can be sure of receiving the most up-to-date and accurate results of my research, for she maintains the gold standard of core shamanism. I recommend her enthusiastically."
