Individuation and Sovereignty in the Clinical Relationship
When we come to realize that our nature is wholeness, the layers of conditioned thinking and believing are shed over time opening the way for our authentic, creative, and intelligent self-expression to flower forth. This process of fully becoming ourselves is likened to what C.J. Jung called individuation, when a human being is successful at differentiating oneself and living as a true individual, undivided. Such a person develops a sense of personal sovereignty, relying on one's inner authority to determine what is true and make choices. This presentation will discuss case material that exemplifies the way in which the clinical relationship is impacted when the therapist embodies an undivided state in one's human expression.
