Gabe Javier serves as the Assistant Dean of Students and Director of the LGBT Campus Center at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. While at Wisconsin, Gabe has been a part of implementing a University-wide system by which people can indicate a preferred name that may be different than a birth or legal name. He also chairs the University's hate and bias response team and is a member of the University's Student Crisis Response Team and the University Suicide Prevention Council.
Gabe has served as the Chair of Administration for the Standing Committee for LGBT Issues of ACPA: College Student Educators International and has served the National Consortium of Higher Education LGBT Resource Professionals in several capacities, including Consortium co-Chair, Education Chair, and Support Services Chair. In 2008, Gabe served as host committee co-chair of the National Conference on LGBT Equality: Creating Change held in Detroit, MI.
Gabe's research interests include: the effects of social media on the developmental growth related to coming out, the construction and assessment of Safe Space/ Ally Training programs, and the lives of LGBTQ people at the intersection of multiple identities. Gabe's personal interests include cooking shows and long walks with his terrier mix, Dino.

Join members of the Consortium of Higher Education LGBT Resource Professionals for a half day pre-conference meeting on the afternoon of Monday, June 23rd, before we kick off the summer institute. Open to anyone strategizing to create new LGBT services on campus, or those who are striving to improve their current programs and centers. You are invited to join current professionals working in campus LGBT resource centers as we explore best practices for launching, maintaining, and improving campus LGBT services.
