Toi Thibodeaux has served as program coordinator for the LGBT Resource Center at UC Riverside since 2008, and is the current cochair for the UCR Chancellor's Advisory Committee on the Status of LGBTs. In addition, Thibodeaux serves on the University of California Office of the President Task Force and Implementation Team on LGBT Climate and Inclusion. Thibodeaux has direct responsibility for many of the LGBT Resource Center's programs, including Allies Safe Zone, Peer Connections Mentoring Program, and Tuesday Talks. She co-founded BlaqOUT, a discussion group for LGBT students who are black, African American, or of African descent; and she advises student organizations such as Queer People of Color and Gamma Rho Lambda. Thibodeaux is an experiences diversity trainer, and she holds a master's degree from CSU San Bernardino.
Hidden Communities-Online Peer-to-Peer Mentoring Programs
This workshop will feature a brief overview of the Peer Connections Mentoring Program at UC Riverside. Peer Connections is the online peer chat and mentoring program that serves as a national model for providing services for current student populations outside of the classroom or campus center. The workshop will also allow participants to learn more about providing virtual support spaces through an interactive Q&A discussion.
