Apply to the Mindfulness and Compassion in Psychotherapy Certificate Program
Who Should Apply?
The certificate program is intended for mental health practitioners interested in developing a deeper understanding and application of mindfulness and compassion in their professional practices.
The program is designed for psychotherapists, psychiatrists, marriage and family therapists, social workers, drug and alcohol counselors, coaches, interns, and trainees who have at least two years of clinical experience and a strong interest in learning about how to use mindfulness and compassion clinically, and a dedication to applying these skills internally as well as externally. Applicants should have a minimum of two years of clinical experience in psychotherapy, or permission from the lead instructor, and an interest in engaging in an ongoing practice of mindfulness during the program.
(This certificate program is open to U.S. citizens, permanent residents and international persons who are in the U.S. in a valid nonimmigrant visa status who are eligible to take courses at CIIS under that status. CIIS Public Programs Certificate Programs do not qualify for the F-1 student visa.)
The application deadline for the 2014 program is February 3, 2014, after which time candidates will be considered on a space-available basis. We require an admissions essay to determine acceptance into the program. In a short essay, briefly describe your background, how long you have been in practice, why you are interested in the Mindfulness and Compassion in Psychotherapy program, and what you hope to gain through your participation. Essays should be one to two pages typed, double-spaced, and submitted with your Application Form to firstname.lastname@example.org. Applications will not be considered without deposit.

Registration Deposit: $500
Total Registration Fee: $2,500
In order to hold your space in the program, submit a deposit of $500 (USD). We will not process your payment until you have been accepted to the program and notified accordingly. Should the program be full or you are not accepted, your $500 deposit will be refunded in full.
After payment of the initial deposit of $500, payment of the remaining balance of $2,000 must be received by February 12, 2014 to secure your space in the program. Should you wish to cancel after the payment of the initial deposit, an amount of $250 will be deducted from your refund. No cancellations or withdrawals will be honored after February 24, 2014.
We are proud to announce the Frederick P. Lenz Foundation for American Buddhism is supporting scholarships for two applicants to the CIIS certificate in Mindfulness, Compassion and Psychotherapy. To apply, please submit a 2-3 page essay to email@example.com describing your financial need, and how you plan to apply the training to your professional life. The statement is due by January 31, 2014. Recipients will be notified by February 10, 2014. You may submit your essay along with your Application Form.
