Integrative Health Studies MA Program to Add Sound and Healing FocusDec 17 2010

CIIS' Integrative Health Studies (IHL) master's program will add a Sound and Healing focus in fall 2011. This focus will train students in the technologies and skills necessary to use sound, voice, and music as tools for improving quality of life for health and wellness clients. Through real-world internships, students will learn first-hand how sound therapy can lead to stress reduction and health enhancement, and become an important aid in crisis and pain management. The coursework and experience will deepen students' understanding of sound healing as a creative and energetic tool for challenging transitions, such as end of life.

  • Curriculum combines ancient oral traditions of sound healing with modern technologies and standards.
  • Coursework will link science and spirituality through sound and music healing.
  • Sound and music practices include mantra chanting, songwriting, sonic meditations, and more.
  • Students will have the opportunity to share globally acknowledged sound and music practices with the larger IHL community.
