Lit Crawl: MFA Students and Faculty Read at Litquake's Closing Event in SF's Mission District

Oct 15 2011 6:00PM - 9:00PM

This fall, the MFA programs at CIIS partner with San Francisco's Litquake, the largest literary festival west of the Mississippi, for a series of events culminating in Lit Crawl, a night of readings in bars and cafes in San Francisco's Mission District.

LITCRAWL: WCC faculty members Randall Babtkis and Sarah Stone read alongside dazzling MFA writers Debby Gaines, Christine Falcone, Lois Smith, and Wendy Sterndale at this annual bar-crawl-meets-book-reading in San Francisco's Mission District. For a full Litcrawl schedule, click here.

Randall Babtkis is the editor of "Mission At Tenth," produced at CIIS. An excerpt from his forthcoming book, The Originals, was selected by Phillip Lopate for the SLS Prize.

Sarah Stone, author of The True Sources of the Nile and co-author (with Ron Nyren) of Deepening Fiction, teaches in the MFA programs at CIIS.

Christine Falcone's award-winning work has appeared in print, online; live, on-stage; aired on public radio and television; and has screened internationally at film festivals

Deborah Gaines, mortician by day/writer by night, is working on her first collection of essays, about Life and Death in the Midwest.

Lois Smith's work has appeared in journals including Susurrus and We Still Like Books. She is working on a novella entitled Devil Takes the Elevator.

Wendy Sterndale's stories and essays are set during wartime or anytime in corporate America. Her characters navigate their own challenges with human dignity.
