Writing and Selling Nonfiction: Confessions of a Bestselling Author with Don Lattin
Nov 6 2010

Don Lattin reveals the inside story of how he made it onto the national bestseller list, and what he learned along the way. He offers practical information on writing, publishing, and selling a successful nonfiction book, including the increasingly popular spiritual memoir. Among the issues he addresses are finding your writer's voice, organizing your material, avoiding writer's block, getting an agent, making your pitch, finding a publisher, and promoting your published work. Come prepared with samples of your writing and/or your working book proposal, and be ready to share them with the class. This workshop also covers the pros and cons of self-publishing and posting your work on the Internet.
Don Lattin is an author and award-winning journalist who worked for more than two decades as a staff writer at the San Francisco Chronicle. He has taught writing and reporting classes at the Graduate School of Journalism at UC Berkeley. He is the author of four published works, including the critically acclaimed and bestselling Harvard Psychedelic Club. Lattin's work has appeared in dozens of magazines and newspapers, including the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times. His other books are Jesus Freaks, Following Our Bliss, and Shopping for Faith.
