ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
The Bhagavata Purana is the preeminent sacred text of bhakti (the yoga of divine love and bliss), primarily through its depiction of the rasa lila-the blessed dance of eternity. It is also narrated by the sage Suka to an epic king, who is about to meet his death. The entire Purana evolves as a response to the question, "What should someone do who is about to die?" As a vision of conscious dying, the Bhagavata weaves practices from the yogic, tantric, and bhakti traditions into a teaching on how to meet both life and death through self-surrender into the awakened heart. The poetic and storytelling focus of this scripture makes it contrast with the more prescriptive Tibetan Book of the Dead.
Rick Jarow, a Bhagavata lineage holder, will share teachings, perspectives, and yogic practices from the Bhagavata, including the nine-fold path of devotion, the death-awareness of ultimate freedom, and the practice of luminous beauty.
