ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
Through his inspiring and moving verses, Jelaluddin Rumi, the thirteenth century Sufi mystic, has become one of the bestselling poets of the twentieth-century. Rumi is the founder of the Mevlevi Sufis, also known as the whirling dervishes, who consider his massive work, the Masnavi, to be mystical commentary on the Qu'ran, Islam's holy book. Born in Afghanistan, he was a teacher and scholar of Islam and Sufism, and experienced a spiritual awakening when he met his teacher Shams-i-Tabriz. Through the centuries, many religious traditions have respected Rumi for the love and inspiration that poured from him.
In this workshop, participants will learn of Rumi's teachings through close study of the Masnavi and, by exploring this great Sufi saint, gain a deeper mystical understanding of their own soul's unfolding. This class is intended for anyone who has been inspired by Rumi's work and is curious to delve into the deeper dimensions of his teachings and its applications to life.
