About the Workshop
The classical philosophy of the yoga darsana described by Patanjali in the Yoga Sutras is a precise science of mind. In four short chapters, he clearly and succinctly describes both the capabilities of the human mind as well as the ways that these potentials can be realized. Patanjali's explanations are straightforward, easy to understand, and immensely practical, since changing the quality of our mental state has far-reaching ramifications in every aspect of our daily lives.
We will review all four chapters, but focus primarily on the first and second, with a goal of understanding how yoga refines the quality of our mind, helps us to clear negative emotions, create positive habits/behaviors, improve our relationships, and bring forth profound experiences.
Chase Bossart is a long-time private student of TKV Desikachar and a KHYF-certified Yoga Teacher Trainer. He has an MA in Religious Studies from UC Santa Barbara, where he wrote his thesis on Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras. He currently teaches at the Healing Yoga Foundation in San Francisco.
