CIIS Integrative Health Coaching Model Garners National AttentionNov 17 2009
Professor Meg Jordan, PhD, RN, chair of Integrative Health Studies Department, will participate in a public meeting in Seattle on Nov. 20 as part of Healthy People 2010, a series of special sessions led by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to devise national health objectives.
Every 10 years, HHS seeks public input from health professionals and communities across the country on the proposed set of objectives. These objctives put forth measurable goals aimed at extending quality and length of life.
Jordan will direct her report to the challenge of improving unhealthy lifestyles through cultural support, environmental advocacy, and coaching for individual behavior change. The Integrative Health Studies program features one of the few coaching initiatives in the nation that directly tackles health disparities among poor and low middle-income people.
