American Academy of Religion Presents Panel on New Book Co-edited by Jorge Ferrer and Jacob ShermanJan 13 2011

At their annual conference in Atlanta, Ga., in fall 2010, the American Academy of Religion (AAR) presented a panel discussion on a new book, "The Participatory Turn: Spirituality, Mysticism, Religious Studies," which is co-edited by CIIS core faculty members Jorge Ferrer and Jacob Sherman. Ferrer teaches in the East-West Psychology program and Sherman is a professor in the Department of Philosophy and Religion.
The panel at the AAR conference was titled "The Participatory Turn: Studying Religion Beyond the Philosophies of Consciousness and Constructivism." The event was so successful that two independent AAR program units invited Ferrer and Sherman to offer additional panels (on mysticism and contemplative studies) at the upcoming AAR annual meeting in San Francisco in fall 2011.
