CIIS alum Cassandra Vieten (PsyD '99) has been named CEO and President of Institute of Noetic Sciences in Petaluma. Here's a short bio from the official release:

Cassandra Vieten is a leader of a new generation of Noetic Scientists. She is a licensed clinical psychologist and has served as the co-director of the Mind-Body Medicine Research Group at California Pacific Medical Center Research Institute in San Francisco, and co-president of the Institute for Spirituality and Psychology. Her primary interest is in exploring how psychology, biology, and spirituality interact to affect experience and behavior. She has authored numerous books, chapters, and academic articles, and presented at international scientific conferences, as well as workshops and events for the lay public.

The Institute of Noetic Sciences, founded in 1973 by Apollo 14 astronaut Edgar Mitchell, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit research, education, and membership organization whose mission is supporting individual and collective transformation through consciousness research, educational outreach, and engaging a global learning community in the realization of our human potential. “Noetic” comes from the Greek word nous, which means “intuitive mind” or “inner knowing.” IONS conducts, sponsors, and collaborates on leading-edge research into the potentials and powers of consciousness, exploring phenomena that do not necessarily fit conventional scientific models while maintaining a commitment to scientific rigor.
