Meg Jordan Publishes New Book, “How to be a Health Coach”Posted on Sep 3 2013

Meg Jordan, chair of the Department of Somatic Psychology, Integrative Health, and Human Sexuality at CIIS, has published a new book, "How to be A Health Coach." This step-by-step manual offers the essentials of health coaching methodology, along with integrative wellness principles, theoretical frameworks, evidence-based models, coaching session formats, and practice tools. Readers also learn effective mind-body techniques to become extraordinary health coaches.

Health coaches employ the art and science of coaching psychology to assist others in achieving and sustaining health and wellness goals, such as, improving diet, exercising regularly, or reducing stress. Coaches who employ an integrative wellness approach also include mind-body tools, meditation, yoga, guided imagery, movement, sound healing,and complementary and alternative healing modalities. This step-by-step manual offers the essentials of health coaching methodology, along with integrative wellness principles, theoretical frameworks, evidence-based models, coaching session formats, and practice tools. An integrative wellness approach to coaching is a journey of self-discovery for both coaches and their clients.

Dr. Meg Jordan

Professor Meg Jordan, PhD, RN, CWP, is Department Chair of Integrative Health Studies and Somatic Psychology at the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco, where her focus is preparing graduate students as catalysts for positive change in health care, wellness and health promotion. Dr. Jordan is a clinical medical anthropologist, an award-winning international health journalist, behavioral medicine specialist, RN, author, and President of Global Medicine Enterprises, Inc.
